1. Presume positive intentions
  • all are here to work for a greater good
2. Be respectful to the sharing and hearing of all ideas
  • avoid side conversations
  • listen without interrupting
  • invite and welcome contributions of all
  • make sure each member is clear before moving on
3. Start and end on time
  • be on time for meetings
  • facilitator and all group members help discussion stay within time limits for each topic
4. Pausing/Reflection
  • allow equal time for sharing
  • pause for reflection during conversations
5. Decision Making
  • strive for consensus
  • if consensus cannot be reached at initial meeting, the topic can be brought to one additional meeting for consensus.
